BMI Calculator

About this tool

Body Mass Index (BMI) is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared — a quick screening number used worldwide to flag weight-related health risks. The standard adult bands are: below 18.5 underweight, 18.5–24.9 normal, 25–29.9 overweight, and 30 or above obese. This calculator accepts metric or imperial units, shows your BMI with its category, and also displays the healthy weight range for your height so you get a target, not just a label. Keep in mind what BMI does not measure: it cannot tell muscle from fat, so athletes and very muscular people may score high while being perfectly healthy, and it is less reliable for children, the elderly, and pregnant women. Treat the result as a starting point for a conversation with a doctor, not a diagnosis.
